Joan Bohlke takes the early lead through a slow pace. Brie Felnagle (bib 4 at right) of the University of North Carolina is stalking in the pack. Felnagle was last year’s runner-up in this event. Anne Shadle took the lead with 500 meters to go, with Felnagle on her shoulder. Felnagle took the lead on the backstretch but was passed by Hannah England of Florida State (bib 3) with less than 100 meters to go. England finished in 4:40.22, Felnagle in 4:40.82.
