For the second year in a row Tasha Stanley of Eleanor Roosevelt High (Greenbelt, MD) was named the High School Girls’ Athlete of the Meet for relay events. On Friday she anchored Roosevelt’s winning team in the 4x400m with a 54.2 split as her team clocked a 3:37.16 time. She also ran a 2:09.6 anchor for the 4×800 team that finished second in 8:43.12, a U.S. national high school record. Stanley joins Angel Patterson (William Penn, PA, 1996-97) and Inez Turner (Vere Tech, Jamaica, 1989, ’91) as the only two-time winners of this honor.

Stephanie Morgan of Barnesville (Ohio) High was named the High School Girls’ Athlete of the Meet for individual events after winning the girls’ mile in 4:41.22, breaking the meet record of 4:42.21, set by Arianna Lambie (Bromfield School, MA) in 2003. It is the fastest time in the U.S. this season. A time was also fallen en route for the 1,500m, of 4:22.99, for which Morgan will receive credit for a second meet record, breaking the mark of 4:24.51 set in 1994 by Sally Glynn (Walter Johnson, MD).
