Louisiana State freshman Rachel Laurent set a Penn Relays record in the college women’s pole vault, clearing 13 feet, 10-1/2 inches (4.23 meters). The previous record was 13-10 (4.22), set by Kansas’ Amy Linnen in 2005.
Laurent is the 2008 USATF Junior champion in the event and finished fifth at the NCAA Indoor championships in March. She won the SEC Indoor championship this winter as well.

The Penn Relays are the largest annual track and field meet in the United States and the largest annual relay meet in the world. Over the course of three days, 19,000 athletes from all levels will race in front of 115,000 spectators. The 2010 Penn Relays will be from April 22-24.
