Tennessee, by virtue of winning the DMR, 4×1500, and 4×800, has completed the trifecta distance sweep.
They are the third school to accomplish this – Villanova during their heyday actually scored a trifecta four times (1989, 1990, 1995, 1997), and the Shalane Flanagan led UNC Tar Heels won all three in 2003.
Certainly Tennessee’s sweep, where they set two collegiate records, was quite remarkable. They accomplished it with only 5 runners spread among the three events.
