**Princeton wins first championship since 1940**
Our first championship of the program this Saturday was the 4xMile, a race that is always full of surprises. While there was perhaps no clear favorite in 2011, there were at least 5-8 teams that had a shot.
Indiana opened up a nice lead after the first leg, with all the other teams about 20 meters back in the peloton. Nova led the chase pack with Navy and Arkansas. At halfway (approximately 8:10), Indiana still led with Villanova and Princeton close behind. The final pass, at 12:15, had Indiana in front still, with Arkansas and Princeton behind. Villanova, with Jim Gibney was in 4th. Duncan Phillips of Arkansas led the charge to catch Ben Hubers of Indiana, catching him at 1000 meters-ish. Mark Amirault of Princeton also followed Phillips up to the front.
Amirault outkicks Phillips for the win ! The winning time was 16:19.98, with the second leg (Donn Cabral) running the Princeton’s fastest in 4:02. This was the first Ivy victory since 1931.
