Event #256, the College Women’s Championship. We have had a number of fast times today, and the college women should not disappoint (although there is a breeze here at Franklin Field now).

The leading qualifier was UTech from Jamaica in 3:34, but Texas A&M and Florida State are right on their heels with 3:36 and 3:37.

At the first exchange, it is indeed UTech in the lead, but TCU takes the lead at the break.

UTech retakes the lead, with TCU and Texas A&M right behind. A&M is attempting the sprints trifecta.

UTech has opened a big lead in the last exchange, which may be insurmountable.

and for the first time, the University of Technology from Jamaica has won the 4×400. They are the first international school to win this event ever in relays history. Their winning time was 3:30 . . . . full results here.

For the next 4 hours leading up to our first college championship, we have high school 4×400′s. As the times drift under 4:00 and the 3:55, we’ll post them here.

Update at 3:15 . . . we’ve had 20 heats, but none under 4:00 yet . . . . faster times are ahead. The temps are warming (a bit), with the sun in and out of the clouds.

Finally, a 3:58.80 from Bishop McNamara in the 24th heat (event 37) . . . more sub 4:00′s to come.

Hempstead (NY) wins event 39 in 3:55.3 to take over the top spot. We’re approaching the fastest sections (40-46)

Event 42 had three teams under 4:00, with Garden City (NY) running 3:56.

Event 43, Manchester (JA) runs 3:46 (!), and Cardozo (NY) in 3:53.

Event 44 really turned it up a notch, with Oxon Hill (MD) in 3:50, Junipero Serra (CA) in 3:51, and Eleanor Roosevelt (MD) in 3:52. Junipero Serra is won of the top teams in the US; we welcome them to the Penn Relays (wish the weather was a little warmer).

Event 45: Vere Tech (JA) in 3:45, Bethel (VA) 3:49, Edwin Allen (JA), 3:49.

Event 46, our final heat, featured the Jamaican national record holders – Holmwood Tech. Holmwood wins in 3:41 (!!). Rancho Verde (CA) finishes 2nd in 3:49.
